Job summary

Dorner Manufacturing, a Columbus McKinnon Organization, is seeking a Flex Technician to support multiple departments in a high-impact manufacturing environment. The role flexes between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication to meet daily production needs.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to learn new processes. Safety, teamwork, and communication are essential as you help ensure smooth workflow across the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Forklift certification and overhead crane familiarity or willingness to train.

Responsibilities

• Flex between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication as production needs.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, 5S, and policies.
• Communicate with supervisors and teammates for smooth handoffs.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical assembly per work instructions and quality standards.
• Use hand and power tools, and measurement devices safely.
• Operate material-handling equipment; training provided if needed.
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, and grinding.
• Adhere to OMS instructions and cycle counting procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.

6am - 2:30pm

Job Summary/Overview

The Flex Technician is a versatile, cross‑trained team member who supports multiple operational areas within the manufacturing facility. This role “flexes” between Assembly, Shipping & Receiving, and Fabrication based on daily production needs. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable learning new processes to ensure smooth workflow across departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Flex between departments based on staffing needs, production schedules, or priority changes.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements 5S, and company policies as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth handoffs between departments.
• Participate in cross‑training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components and finished products according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices safely and accurately.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material‑handling equipment (training provided if needed).
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, grinding, or machine operation.
• Use of proper processes, procedures and OMS instructions, cycle counting procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties on machines & equipment as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

• A team player with excellent communication skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and solid blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems.
• Ability to be flexible and adjust priories to reflect changing needs or job demands.
• Attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• 2 + years of experience in a Manufacturing Environment is preferred.
• Certification for sit-down forklift, Raymond and use of overhead crane or the willingness to obtain via training.
• Ability to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.

Compensation

$20+ per hour based on experience
