Job summary

The County of Sacramento is seeking an automotive technician to inspect, lubricate, and service a wide range of vehicles including gasoline, diesel, hybrids, and electrics. You will support journey level technicians and perform sub-journey level repair duties in a busy maintenance shop.

Applicants should have one year of full-time experience servicing or repairing vehicles and related coursework may count toward this requirement.

Qualifications

One year of full-time paid experience servicing or repairing gasoline, diesel, or alternatively powered vehicles such as automobiles, light, medium and heavy duty trucks, buses, or construction equipment with fuel and lubricants.
Coursework from an accredited college, vocational training school, or military training program in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Heavy Maintenance Equipment Repair, or Construction Equipment Repair, or other area or field closely related to the intent of the class may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of 2.5 semester units (3.75 quarter units) are equal to one month of experience.
Note: If the word “experience” is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Inspects, lubricates, and services gasoline, diesel, hybrid, electric, and alternatively fueled vehicles including automobiles, light, medium, and heavy duty trucks, buses, and construction equipment.
Assists journey level technicians by performing sub-journey level repair duties.
