Job summary

Best Logistics Group is seeking a Fleet Asset & Utilization Manager to maximize visibility and productivity of tractors, trailers, rental equipment, and supporting fleet assets. You will serve as the central point between Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and senior leadership, maintain accurate fleet data, monitor utilization, identify idle assets, and provide actionable insights to improve ROI.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of trucking operations and asset management.
• Knowledge of Class 8 tractors and commercial trailers.
• Familiar with preventive maintenance and downtime.
• Excellent analysis and problem-solving to turn data into actions.
• Advanced Excel skills: formulas, pivot tables, data reconciliation.
• Experience across transportation and fleet systems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and executives.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility of fleet assets: location, assignment, availability, utilization, status.
• Monitor metrics: revenue per tractor/trailer, utilization, downtime, unassigned assets.
• Identify idle or underutilized equipment and redeploy opportunities.
• Develop fleet scorecards and executive reports.
• Collaborate with Operations to improve productivity and trends.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on repair status and return-to-service dates.
• Track downtime and recurring maintenance issues.
• Ensure equipment readiness for onboarding and staffing needs.
• Manage rental tractors/trailers visibility and utilization.
• Provide data to support purchasing, replacement, and disposition decisions.
