Job summary

St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee the driver team, ensure DOT compliance, and maintain fleet readiness across buses, refrigerated and dry trucks, and tractors.

The role requires CDL, supervisory experience, and strong organizational skills to coordinate scheduling, payroll, and vendor relationships, with occasional driving duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CDL, Good driving record, Current DOT Medical Certification.
• Solid interpersonal skills to lead and work with others.
• Excellent knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements and record keeping.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills in a team and fleet environment.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Planning and organization skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of basic safe food handling.
• Good planning and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates the activities of all drivers, including Class A and B.
• Maintains DOT records and logs, and stays current with regulations.
• Ensures vehicle upkeep for safety, fueling, DOT compliance and appearance.
• Schedules staff and temps; processes payroll documents.
• Writes driver evaluations (annual and 90-day).
• Collaborates with Transportation Manager and HR to hire drivers.
• Maintains transportation and fleet paperwork and records.
• May drive a truck to complete pickups or deliveries.
• Manages routing software and delivery schedules daily.
• Maintains relations with donors and partners regarding transportation issues.
• Substitutes for drivers to cover PTO and absences.
• Acts as Transportation Manager in their absence.
• Conducts weekly and monthly CDL driver training.
• Completes reports and assists in other duties as assigned.
