Job summary

Velocity Truck Rental and Leasing is hiring a skilled technician in Fontana, CA to inspect, repair, and maintain a range of vehicles and equipment. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs at customer sites or shop locations, ensuring safety and quality across heavy-duty systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• 4 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
• Must have valid Class B Driver’s License.
• Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas.
• Ability to follow all written and oral instructions.
• Attention to Detail, Dependability, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control.
• Ability to always implement and work in a strong safety environment.
• Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.
• Advanced knowledge and full understanding of Heavy-Duty Electrical systems utilizing the proper Diagnostic Tools.
• Able to identify the root cause of failures / conditions on all systems and components along with performing the repairs as required.
• Must be CFC 609 Certified
• Basic welding skills

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections and related tasks.
• Perform inspections at customer locations with a service truck.
• Dispatch service calls to diagnose and repair vehicle breakdowns.
• Repair, replace, adjust, disassemble and assemble components to fix deficiencies.
• Verify vehicle performance via test drives and system adjustments.
• Perform tire replacements, rotations, and mounting/dismounting as needed.
• Comply with federal/state vehicle requirements by testing engine and safety standards.
• Maintain vehicle records of services and repairs.
• Contain costs by using warranties and evaluating parts options.

Job Duties:

• Determines vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections, oil changes, chassis lubrication while identifying worn and damaged parts, installing component and part upgrades on light, medium, and heavy-duty tractors and other equipment.
• Performs inspections at customers location with a service truck which could include inclement weather at times. Maintains the service truck to standard including cleanliness and resupply.
• Performs service calls dispatching to provide diagnosis and repairs related to vehicle breakdowns.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies identified by repairing, replacing, adjusting, disassembling and assembling, components in all major equipment system areas.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
• Performs tire replacements, rotations, mounting and dismounting on and off of vehicles as needed.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

• $34-$38/hour depending on skills and experience
