Velocity Truck Rental and Leasing in Fontana, CA is seeking a Fleet Technician-Intermediate to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems on a variety of heavy- and light-duty trucks. You will perform preventive maintenance, service calls, and road tests to ensure high-quality repairs and reliability.

Responsibilities include inspections, component repairs, tire work, and maintaining thorough service records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• 4 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field.
• Must have valid Class B Driver’s License.
• Advanced knowledge of Heavy-Duty Electrical systems and diagnostic tools.
• CFC 609 Certification required.
• Basic welding skills.

Responsibilities

• Ddetermine vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections and oil changes.
• Perform inspections at customer locations with a service truck and maintain readiness.
• Provide diagnosis and repairs for vehicle breakdowns via service calls.
• Repair, replace, and adjust components across major system areas.
• Verify vehicle performance through test drives and adjustments.
• Handle tire replacements, rotations, mounting, and dismounting as needed.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements and maintain records.

What You’ll Do:

Fleet Technician-Intermediate Level; Works under general supervision of the Service Manager, Service Supervisor, or designated Lead Technician. This employee with proper training and experience will diagnose minor mechanical and electrical problems working in accordance with all standard repair practices along with Federal and State compliance guidelines. This position will road test vehicles to ensure the quality and effectiveness of repairs performed along with identifying potential concerns and will exercise judgement and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs. This position will include performing all other duties / skills in lesser classifications.

Job Duties:

• Determines vehicle condition by conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections, oil changes, chassis lubrication while identifying worn and damaged parts, installing component and part upgrades on light, medium, and heavy-duty tractors and other equipment.
• Performs inspections at customers location with a service truck which could include inclement weather at times. Maintains the service truck to standard including cleanliness and resupply.
• Performs service calls dispatching to provide diagnosis and repairs related to vehicle breakdowns.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies identified by repairing, replacing, adjusting, disassembling and assembling, components in all major equipment system areas.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
• Performs tire replacements, rotations, mounting and dismounting on and off of vehicles as needed.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
• 4 years’ experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field
• Must have valid Class B Driver’s License
• Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas.
• Ability to follow all written and oral instructions
• Attention to Detail, Dependability, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control
• Ability to always implement and work in a strong safety environment.
• Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times.
• Advanced knowledge and full understanding of Heavy-Duty Electrical systems utilizing the proper Diagnostic Tools
• Able to identify the root cause of failures / conditions on all systems and components along with performing the repairs as required.
• Must be CFC 609 Certified

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Must be able to pass post-offer drug screening, physical examination (including a lift test),

Compensation:

• $34-$38/hour depending on skills and experience
