Job summary

The City of Peoria is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gasoline and diesel equipment, including light and heavy‑duty vehicles and aerial trucks. The role supports Public Works, Police Department, and Water Services.

The ideal candidate has a solid automotive or heavy‑duty repair background, welding/fabrication experience, and aims to grow technical skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-4 years’ automotive/heavy‑duty repair experience preferred.
• Valid Arizona Class B Driver’s License within 6 months of hire.
• Possession of 4 ASE Certificates or ability to obtain within 1 year after hire.
• Solid automotive/heavy‑duty repair background; welding/fabrication experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment, including light and heavy‑duty vehicles and aerial trucks.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, air conditioning, and powertrain systems or components.
• Work in a team environment to support Public Works, Police Department, Water Services, and other divisions.
