Job summary

The City of Gainesville, FL, is seeking a Fleet Technician II to perform complex repairs and maintenance on municipal fleet vehicles and equipment. You will work under supervision, focusing on advanced skilled mechanical repair and preventive maintenance in a city fleet environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma with automotive tech coursework, five years of repair experience, and Florida CDL class A with tanker/hazmat endorsements within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with automotive technology courses and five years of progressively responsible repair experience.
• Desire work experience with municipal and utilities fleet vehicles, including public safety.
• Certifications in automotive repair and safety practices are required or strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other automotive systems per manufacturers’ guidelines.
• Provides roadside assistance and emergency repairs outside of garage.
• Performs preventive maintenance and fueling in the field and conducts road tests before/after service.
• Enters maintenance data and work orders into the fleet management system; creates parts requests as needed.
• Maintains tools and workspace in a clean, safe condition and attends required training; may train less experienced technicians.
