Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Fleet Specialist I-II for the Sallisaw, OK region. The role covers mechanical and technical maintenance of state vehicles and equipment, with responsibilities spanning diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in automobile, truck, light or heavy duty road equipment, combustion engines or chassis maintenance and repair; substituting one year of education/training as Automotive/Diesel Mechanic.
• Ability to diagnose problems and use diagnostic tools; read and understand parts manuals, service manuals, and schematics.
• Possession of valid Oklahoma driver’s license may be required; several certifications may be required depending on the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor preventative maintenance service on state vehicles and equipment; diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems; operate diagnostic tools and computer software; weld and fabricate.
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment; inspect and test equipment for safety and proper working order.
• Complete paperwork and assist in writing specifications; maintain workplace inventory; order parts and supplies to maintain an inventory of parts.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical personnel; assist with roadside services as needed.
• Supervise a repair facility and review work; provide training and guidance in engine malfunction analysis and repair decisions.
• Plan and direct operations of a repair facility; prepare project schedules and ensure equipment availability for activities.
