DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION in Oklahoma seeks a Fleet Specialist I-II for the Sallisaw area. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues, and coordinating repairs for state vehicle fleets. The position is full-time and located in Sallisaw, OK.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, ordering parts, and guiding a repair facility with training and supervision of staff. A valid Oklahoma driver’s license is often required, and federal/state compliance applies.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in automobile, truck, light or heavy-duty road equipment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience; substitution of education/training for work experience accepted.
• Knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment, and repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor preventive maintenance on state vehicles and equipment; diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and inspect equipment for safety and proper operation.
• Complete paperwork, write specifications, and order parts to maintain inventory.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical personnel, assist roadside and towing services as needed.
• Supervise a repair facility; train staff and review engine malfunction repairs.
• Plan, direct, and optimize repair operations; coordinate with engineering for priorities and equipment availability.
• Conduct transportation planning functions and budget management for unit operations.
