Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is seeking Technicians to keep our fleet of heavy equipment, cranes, and diesel trucks in good working order. The role requires 1+ year of hands-on experience and a valid license for operation.

You will diagnose issues, order parts, and maintain records, while supporting safety and teamwork across multiple job sites in Richmond and New Kent. Base hourly range offered is $20.00-$35.00 with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Technician for heavy equipment, cranes, or diesel trucks.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background checks for secure facility access; DOT physical and drug screening may be required.
• Have own tools adequate to perform all job functions.
• Locations include maintenance shop and multiple jobsites; some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose failures for vehicles/equipment and notify Fleet Manager of issues.
• Keep records of time spent on repairs and maintenance performed.
• Test drive/operate vehicles/equipment to ensure proper working condition.
• Procure, order, and track parts required for repairs/maintenance.
• Inspect fleet at check-in/out to correct deficiencies before return to service.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; adhere to safety protocols.
• Perform manual labor tasks to support projects as needed.
• Support the company health and safety culture and policies.
• Establish positive working relationships with customers and coworkers.
