Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is hiring Fleet Technician professionals in the United States to maintain and repair sedans, trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and diesel systems, service auxiliary equipment, and ensure safety and reliability of fleet operations.

Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years of automotive experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• 2+ years of automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
• Diesel engine experience desirable from automotive trade school.
• Valid state driver's license required; Class A CDL within 12 months.
• Fluid Power Society Certification and two ASE certifications within 24 months.
• Must pass pre-employment tests and demonstrate vehicle maintenance skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair sedans, trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
• Service hydraulic and diesel systems and related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair brake, steering, and fuel systems.
• Operate company vehicles and maintain work area; keep records.
• Attend training and assist in training others.
