Job summary

Pasco County Government is seeking a Fleet Technician within the Fleet Management division to perform skilled mechanical repairs, routine maintenance, and computerized diagnostics on county vehicles and equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and two years journey-level automotive/diesel experience, with Florida CDL-B (P endorsement) within 12 months of hire. ASE certifications are preferred. This position may include standby emergency duties and requires passing a urine test.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years journey-level automotive/diesel experience within last five years.
• Must have Florida driver's license and CDL-B with P endorsement within 12 months of hire.
• ASE certifications (A1, A4, A5 or T2, T4, T6, T7) preferred.
• Original equipment manufacturer certifications may substitute ASE requirements at County's discretion.
• Urine test required prior to employment; drug testing policy applies.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs and maintains gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Inspects, repairs and maintains County Emergency Services vehicles, construction equipment/landfill equipment and other medium to light duty units.
• Performs monthly inspections and services.
• Performs computerized diagnostic testing and analysis.
• Maintains work area and service truck in a clean, orderly manner.
• Assists other technicians, mechanics, and shop personnel when directed.
• Uses a PC or laptop for analytical and documentation purposes.
• Performs related work as required.
