McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking a Fleet Support Technician who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. NUWC is the United States Navy's full‑spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, and resourcefulness and should be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, schedule‑driven environment as well as interacting with Fleet, Program Management Office, and other U.S. and foreign Government agency personnel.
The Fleet Support Engineer will provide support and technical guidance/oversight for missile systems, subsystems, assemblies, components, test equipment, and platforms, assisting the government with investigations of complex problems relating to the performance, operation, maintenance, installation, integration, and modification of missile systems and associated equipment. The role will require thorough practical knowledge of the assigned missile systems, their associated support and test equipment, tools, and a variety of submarine systems.
They will travel to fleet activities worldwide to provide subject‑matter expert‑level guidance, training, and technical assistance during ordnance operations. The Engineer will give guidance and training on specialized equipment used to support undersea weapon systems, develop and review training curricula for missile systems and equipment, and create Special Operating Procedures to enable in‑service engineering support personnel to conduct depot‑level maintenance and repair at fleet maintenance sites.
