Job summary

8Fleet in San Diego is seeking a Fleet Supervisor to lead daily shift operations, assign drivers to routes, and maximize vehicle productivity. You will monitor real-time conditions, respond to incidents, and ensure safe, compliant transport operations.

Ideal candidates bring GPS tracking expertise, dispatch software knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to schedule demands including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced transportation or logistics environment, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of GPS tracking systems, dispatch software, and other relevant technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shift operations: Monitor driver schedules, track vehicle locations, and respond to real-time issues such as traffic delays, accidents, or mechanical problems.
• Manage driver assignments: Allocate drivers to appropriate routes, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and minimizing idle time.
• Communicate effectively: Maintain clear and concise communication with drivers, operations management, and other company staff via phone, text and other communication channels.
• Monitor driver performance: Track KPIs such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and safety records.
• Maintain accurate records: Document all shift activities, including driver assignments, vehicle movements, and any incidents.
• Collaborate with other departments: Work closely with other groups to ensure seamless operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements: Analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations: Adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements, including DOT regulations and company policies.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Fleet Supervisor to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a designated shift, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of vehicles and drivers. You will play a key role in optimizing resource allocation and maximizing driver/vehicle productivity.

Compensation

• $24 per hour
