Job summary

TOTE Maritime Alaska in Tacoma, WA seeks an Equipment Control Manager to drive fleet strategy, budgeting, and asset utilization. You’ll lead a team, manage budgets, and coordinate with Sales, Customer Service and Pricing to forecast demand and meet equipment needs now and in the future.

The role emphasizes building vendor relationships, optimizing fleet plans, and ensuring reliable equipment availability with a focus on cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, shipping, terminal operations, trucking, maritime operations, or related industries.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and data tools for budgeting and fleet planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage department employees in accordance with policies and laws.
• Oversee hiring, training, performance management, coaching, and development.
• Forecast customer demand with Sales, Customer Service and Pricing to meet short and long-term needs.
• Develop and maintain fleet plans optimizing equipment availability, utilization, and capital strategies.
• Prepare, manage and review operating and capital budgets related to trailing equipment.
• Manage relationships with key vendors to support service, cost and performance objectives.
• Establish operating parameters to support fleet performance and cost management.
• Support growth by developing department members' skills for advancement.
