Job summary

Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC seeks a Fleet Acquisitions professional to lead annual fleet replacements, develop vehicle and equipment specifications, and guide vendor selection for reliable, compliant assets.

You will partner with fleet operations, procurement and safety teams to ensure cost-effective acquisitions, strong supplier relationships, and a smooth lifecycle from ordering to upfitting.

Hybrid work arrangement with travel 5-15% and relocation assistance provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience required.
• Knowledge of vehicle systems, operations, and specifications.
• Ability to interpret federal/state/regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, etc.).
• Experience with Maximo and fleet management software.
• Strong negotiation and customer relationship skills.
• Experience diagnosing gasoline/diesel engines and hydraulic equipment.
• Project management certification (PMP or Six Sigma) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual fleet replacements/acquisitions to meet customer needs within budget.
• Support vehicle/equipment purchasing agreements and contracts with compliance.
• Develop vehicle/equipment specifications and vendor selection processes.
• Act as project manager through ordering, manufacturing, delivery, and upfitting lifecycle.
• Develop fleet reports and manage inventory in Fleet Management system.
• Coordinate communications with Fleet Services on campaigns, recalls, and technical items.
