Job summary

The City of Charlotte seeks a Fleet Shop Supervisor to lead a skilled team of technicians in maintaining light, medium, and heavy fleet equipment. You will manage daily shift operations, coordinate repairs, and communicate with City departments to ensure reliable service for essential operations.

You will foster safety, teamwork, and accountability while monitoring performance and implementing efficient workflows.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or GED with 3 years in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance, plus 2 years in a supervisory role.
Preferred: Degree or certification in Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanics, Business/Public Administration.
ASE Master certifications or manufacturer training recognized by ASE.
Demonstrated leadership in fleet or maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve complex vehicle and equipment maintenance issues.
Direct daily shift operations to meet fleet availability and service goals.
Coordinate vendor activities for timely repairs under warranty and parts programs.
Support Shop Manager in daily operations and team leadership.
Provide responsive internal customer service and communication on fleet projects.
