Job summary

Southwest Florida Water Management District is offering a part-time Fleet Services Student Intern position in Tampa. The role supports the General Services Bureau by assisting with fleet maintenance, parts ordering, and documentation.

You will gain hands-on experience in shop operations while contributing to the district’s water resources mission. The position requires coursework enrollment, a valid driver’s license, and a GPA requirement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduates or 3.0 for graduates.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Understanding of automotive reports and repairs (preferred).
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel (preferred).
• Good communication skills including oral and written (preferred).
• Team player (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly workspace within the Tampa Fleet shop.
• Clean District pool vehicles, including interior and exterior upkeep.
• Support repairs and basic maintenance on District vehicles and equipment.
• Order parts and supplies needed for various Fleet projects.
• Track parts/supply usage to support accurate recordkeeping.
• Complete required paperwork associated with repairs and maintenance activities.
• Maintain tracking/documentation of completed repairs.
