Job description

Fleet Service Technician
Bus Servicing & Backup Driving
Mustang Transportation | Nevada Operations
Entry Level | Two Positions Available

Mustang Transportation is hiring two dependable, hands-on Fleet Service Technicians to keep our buses clean, fueled, and ready for service.

The primary work includes washing bus exteriors and undercarriages, cleaning interiors, fueling, and checking and topping off designated fluids. The secondary responsibility is serving as a backup bus driver, covering routes as needed once properly licensed, trained, and qualified.

This is an entry-level position with room to learn. Candidates who demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and an ability to develop new skills may receive basic maintenance assignments under the direction of our maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities
Bus Cleaning & Servicing
  • Clean bus interiors, including sweeping, vacuuming, removing trash, wiping surfaces, and cleaning windows.
  • Wash bus exteriors, windows, mirrors, and undercarriages, removing accumulated dirt and road grime.
  • Fuel buses and maintain required fueling records.
  • Check and top off designated vehicle fluids according to company procedures and training.
  • Check buses for cleanliness and general readiness. Promptly report leaks, visible damage, low fluid levels, maintenance concerns, and safety issues.
  • Complete assigned servicing tasks and records accurately so buses are ready when needed.
Basic Maintenance Support
  • Assist the maintenance team with basic tasks as assigned, trained, and authorized.
  • Learn proper tool use, inspection procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Take on additional maintenance responsibilities as demonstrated ability and training allow.
  • Recognize the limits of your training and ask for guidance before attempting unfamiliar work.
Backup Driving
  • Obtain the required CDL and passenger endorsement within 60 days of hire if not already held.
  • Complete required driver training and route familiarization.
  • Safely cover assigned routes when needed after meeting all licensing, medical training, and company requirements.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete driving records.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, passengers, and coworkers.
Equipment & Work Areas
  • Keep wash areas, tools, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, and properly stored.
  • Safely use cleaning products, washing equipment, and tools according to established procedures.
  • Report damaged equipment and supply needs promptly.
  • Follow company policies, safe work practices, and applicable requirements while servicing or operating vehicles.
Qualifications
  • No prior fleet servicing or mechanical experience is required. A willingness to learn and dependable work habits are essential.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record under company requirements.
  • Current CDL with passenger endorsement preferred. Candidates without one must be willing and able to obtain the required license and endorsement within 60 days of hire.
  • Must meet applicable licensing, medical qualification, and company driving requirements before operating a vehicle that requires a CDL.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including standing, bending, reaching, cleaning, and working around vehicles.
  • Attention to detail and pride in keeping equipment clean and ready.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently after training, and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in wash and shop environments.

Previous experience with vehicle cleaning, commercial driving, tools, or basic maintenance is helpful.

Schedule & Work Priorities

The schedule may vary with operational needs. Bus cleaning, fueling, fluid checks, and servicing are the primary responsibilities. Backup driving is assigned as needed, with priorities coordinated by management to maintain both route coverage and fleet readiness.

Learning & Development

Employees who show initiative, follow safe procedures, and demonstrate the ability to learn may receive additional training and basic maintenance assignments. Expanded responsibilities will depend on performance, qualifications, and operational needs.
