Job summary

Mustang Transportation is growing its maintenance team in Nevada to support buses, motor coaches, and support vehicles. A dependable Maintenance Technician will learn, apply mechanical skills, and contribute to keeping the fleet safe and road-ready.

Ideal candidates have background in diesel or fleet maintenance, are safety-focused, and willing to grow with the company as the new shop comes online.

Qualifications

  • Must have mechanical experience in automotive, diesel, fleet, or heavy equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions, troubleshoot problems, and work safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on buses, motor coaches, trucks, and support vehicles.
  • Assist with inspections, servicing, and repairs to keep vehicles safe and road-ready.
  • Perform oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, and other scheduled maintenance.
  • Assist with brake inspections, tire maintenance, suspension work, and other mechanical repairs.
  • Assist senior technicians with diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and vehicle performance issues.
  • Inspect vehicles and report potential maintenance issues before they become major repairs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage documentation.
  • Use basic hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and properly.
  • Keep the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT requirements.
  • Work closely with technicians, drivers, dispatchers, and operations personnel to help keep vehicles available and road-ready.
  • Learn and develop skills related to diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, HVAC, suspension, and other commercial vehicle components.
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs when required.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Mechanical experience in automotive, diesel, fleet, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or a related field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions, troubleshoot problems, and work safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced technicians.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, drivers, dispatchers, and management.
  • Ability to learn new systems, equipment, and technology as our operation continues to grow.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working on diesel engines, buses, trucks, commercial vehicles, or heavy equipment.
  • Previous fleet maintenance or preventative maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, or vehicle diagnostics.
  • CDL Class B or higher with air brake and passenger endorsements.
  • ASE certifications or technical training.
  • Completion of a diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment maintenance program.
  • Experience working in a commercial fleet or transportation environment.
