Purpose:
Under general direction, supervises the work activities and assignments of various levels of technicians on a work shift who perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and other motorized equipment operated by the City.

This recruitment is for the overnight shift. Work schedules include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Possible shifts include 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.; 8:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Hours and location are subject to change based on operational needs.

The Fleet Service Center Supervisor oversee the service center work flow including the assignments of work, directly supervises employees, provides guidance and general leadership to service center staff, and works closely with customer departments and external vendors.
The location and work schedule of this position may include day and evening hours, weekends and holidays on an as needed basis.
This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a City-designated emergency, Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In such an emergency, Essential Employees may be called back in, may be required to modify their schedule, may be assigned to a City-designated work site, or may be retained on site to assist with operations and recovery.

Driving Requirement:
This position requires a license for the operation of commercial vehicles in the state of Texas within ninety (90) days of employment. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty six (36) months.
