Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with two-way radio equipment and systems.
• Experience with repair, troubleshooting, and testing of radio systems.
• Must possess a valid NC driver’s license with a clean record.

Overview

The Fleet Radio Technician supports safe and efficient fleet operations by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting radio and GPS communication systems. Key duties include managing repair orders, maintaining inventory in Operative IQ, and ensuring functionality of vehicle hotspots and transmission systems. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, accurate documentation, and clear communication while considering the unique needs of patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• 1. Uses appropriate problem-solving approach to plan performance of services.
• 2. Provides services with consideration of the physical, psycho-social, cultural/spiritual, and age-specific needs of those served.
• Possess a strong knowledge of radio installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and testing
• Strong knowledge of Geotab fleet management and ambulance tracking systems
• Process daily repair orders as appropriate
• Maintain system records and inventory within the Operative IQ system
• Manage communication parts, equipment within the communications stock room
• Understand and troubleshoot internet GPS solutions with vehicle hotspot for computers and LP15 - 12-lead transmissions to emergency departments

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current valid NC driver's license with a good driving history.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in two-way radio equipment and systems, repair and troubleshooting or a combination of leadership experience and education.
• Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks related to technical and user support; troubleshooting; and repair of systems and equipment including: VHF and UHF equipment, Motorola 7/800 MHz conventional and trunked Equipment, Two-way Equipment, Antenna systems, Alert Pagers, Portables, Mobiles, vehicle Equipment, Bases, Control Stations, Tower Sites, 911 Dispatch Consoles, Duplex Operation and Associated Telecommunications Equipment
• Physical: Mobility to respond quickly to emergency situations, ability to withstand extensive walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to trace and repair color-coded wiring systems. Heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
