Herr Foods Inc. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic for a full-time, Monday–Friday daytime schedule in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. The role involves repairing and maintaining light- to medium-duty delivery trucks and managing PM programs.

Salary starts at $35.00/hour with potential $80,000/year equivalent, plus retention bonus eligibility. The position requires a related degree or 5+ years’ experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong English skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 5+ years related experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of total engine repair and running gear, electrical, welding on fleet vehicles.
• Must read/write/speak English and have good references.

Responsibilities

• Read job orders and diagnose malfunctions to plan work.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on fleet vehicles.
• Maintain Preventive Maintenance Program for branch vehicles.
• Install ignition systems, align wheels, replace batteries and gear components.
• Ensure safety devices are intact and adjust as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and test repaired vehicles for conformance.
• Maintain parts inventory and process repair work orders.
• Coordinate with Fleet Manager on issues and budgets.
• Work with Route Sales to note deficiencies and coordinate outsiders.

Looking for a change of pace and an opportunity to manage your own day as a mechanic? We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the Fleet Mechanic position, to join our Northeast Philadelphia team!

• SALARY RANGE: Starting at $35.00 per hour depending on experience.
• SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday day-time schedule, approximately 40-45 hours a week.

Job Summary: Repairs and maintains light-duty gasoline commercial trucks by performing the following duties. Must live or relocate to within 45 minutes of the branch.

Qualifications You Bring:

• Education and/or Experience
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional years of experience are a plus.
• Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have working knowledge that relates to total engine repair and replacement, running gear and suspension, electrical and welding on all company owned vehicles.
• Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.
• Must possess a stable work history with good references.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITES: Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain and make repairs a fleet of light duty delivery trucks (under 10,000gvw)

• Reads job order and observes and listens to truck in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
• Performs preventative maintenance inspections.
• Maintain a company implemented Preventive Maintenance Program for all branch company vehicles.
• Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired truck to verify conformance to specifications.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Ensure all work orders are completed and entered for repair work completed.
• Work with Fleet Manager on any problems or issues with trucks, people, inventory, budget and any additional areas of concern that arise.
• Review and be responsible for budgets on all branch vehicles with Branch Manager.
• Coordinate with Route Sales People the repairs preformed and note any deficiency.
• Coordinate outside work with all subcontractors used.
