Job summary

The Bartlett Charlotte Arboretum is seeking an experienced Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of company vehicles and tree care equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and keep up service logs while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.

Preferred candidates have 3+ years of experience, a Class B CDL or ability to obtain one, and experience with landscape or construction equipment. This is a full-time on-site role at our Charlotte Arboretum facilities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical repairs of trucks, diesel engines, and hydraulics.
• Valid Class B CDL or the ability to acquire one.
• Experience maintaining landscape or construction equipment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the ongoing maintenance and repair of company vehicles and tree care equipment, which can include bucket and chip trucks (gas and diesel), aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, and hydraulic sprayers
• Diagnose problems, make repairs, and perform preventative maintenance
• Maintain service logs and records of maintenance
• Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations
• Place orders and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies
• Communicate and coordinate significant repairs and maintenance with the Local Manager
• Adhere to all safety standards, policies, and procedures
