Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to keep our truck, trailer, and yard tractor fleet in top condition. Responsibilities include diagnosing components, performing PMs, and ensuring DOT compliance across Class 8 vehicles.

You will support drivers and maintain safety and reliability in a fast-paced environment. The role requires heavy diesel mechanical expertise, the ability to work independently, and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions as needed.
Effective communication and teamwork.
Experience with heavy diesel truck and trailer systems.
Welding and fabrication experience preferred, tire repair experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair truck and trailer components (doors, floors, side panels, electrical and air brake systems).
Perform preventive maintenance and complete repair orders on tractors and trailers.
Ensure safety and reliability of fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates and other equipment.
Adhere to company policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
Maintain repairs for class 8 trucks, trailers and yard tractors.
Operate gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders and hand/power tools.
Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliancy.
