Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a skilled Diesel Maintenance Technician to ensure trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in top condition and compliant with federal standards. You will inspect, diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrains, braking and electrical systems in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities include performing PMs, maintaining safety and reliability, assisting drivers, and completing repair orders.

Qualifications

Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, FMCSA standards and industry practices.
Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed.
Effective communicator and team player.
Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills.
Experience working with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.
2+ years of Diesel Maintenance Repair experience.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate proficiency in inspection, repair and diagnosis of diesel engines and powertrain components.
Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and complete vehicle diagnosis.
Perform preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment and complete repair orders.
Perform maintenance to maximize safety and reliability on fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates and other equipment.
Abide by all company policies and safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
Maintain repairs for Class A trucks, trailers and yard tractors.
Safely operate gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders and various hand and power tools.
Perform DOT inspections and compliancy.
