Job summary

Vestis Corporation in New York, NY is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on our delivery fleet. You will work Monday through Friday, day shift, under the Lead Mechanic, ensuring safety and compliance with DOT standards.

You will utilize the AVMS fleet system, manage parts inventory, and document repairs. The role requires at least two years of fleet repair experience and a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years or more of fleet vehicle repair experience.
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Proficient in preventive maintenance scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain fleet vehicles with focus on Preventative Maintenance programs to meet 100% compliance of standards.
• Utilize the AVMS fleet management computer system to track shop operation duties.
• Assist with cost control through purchasing, inventory management, as well as training others in the area of safety to assure that the vehicle assets are within reasonable costs.
• Responsible for maintenance of the shop quality requirements, cleanliness, and OSHA standards. Regularly inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with Vestis standards and DOT standards.
• Maintain regular vehicle maintenance on company vehicles (primarily delivery step vans).
• Repair and maintain medium gas and diesel engines, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems and lift gates.
• Conduct vehicle inspections; Replace general automotive parts; Document repairs and inspections.
