Merchants Distributors, Inc. (MDI) in North Carolina is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor with heavy duty diesel experience to oversee mechanics and garage operations, ensuring timely repairs and high quality work.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and safety compliance, with responsibilities spanning work-order management, parts inventory, and coordination with Dispatch and Central teams.

Qualifications

• Three to five years work experience in vehicle/equipment maintenance and/or transportation.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Technical knowledge of diesel and electric powered vehicles and material handling equipment.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Prioritize/allocate tasks with mechanics and technicians to ensure workflow.
• Coordinate garage operations and close out work orders with accuracy.
• Serve as the point of contact for Dispatch, Central and MTH with repair status updates.
• Maintain records of preventative maintenance KPIs and reporting.
• Assist in ordering and managing inventory of parts and supplies.
• Monitor and oversee road call activities.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance orders for remote sites with accurate records.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the garage.
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment per safety policies.
• Approve work completed by Apprentices.
• Support Fleet Manager and staff with tasks and repairs as needed.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 4:30pm-1:00am

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and efficient workflow by prioritizing/allocating tasks with mechanics and technicians.


• Coordinate daily operations of the garage, managing and closing out work orders, ensuring proper completion.


• Serve as the point of contact for Dispatch, Central and MTH, coordinating and providing updates on repair status and addressing inquiries.


• Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance KPIs and reporting


• Assist in ordering and managing inventory of parts and supplies.


• Monitor and oversee road call activities.


• Coordinate and manage preventative maintenance orders for remote sites, ensuring accurate record-keeping.


• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the garage.


• Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.


• Approve the work completed by Apprentice.


• Support Fleet Manager and other staff with necessary tasks and perform repairs as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Three to five years work experience in vehicle/equipment maintenance, parts, and fuel management and/ortransportation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


• ASE certification preferred.


• Technical knowledge and skills related to internal combustion, diesel, and electric powered vehicles andmaterial handling equipment.


• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.


• Excellent communication and customer service skills.


• Preferred proficiency using MS Office and fleet management systems.


• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.


• Valid driver's license.
