Job summary

TLD Logistics in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair semi-trucks, trailers, and related equipment. Work occurs in the shop with potential field travel and CDL-required test drives.

You will perform diagnostics with Davie 4/DL8/PTT and other tools, replace parts, and maintain a clean, safe work area while supporting a team under a Lead Technician. CDL is required for road duties.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduated from an accredited Diesel Technology program (preferred).
• Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge.
• 2 years experience performing diagnostics & repair on class 8 trucks/trailers.
• Good organizational, verbal and written skills.
• Ability to focus, multi-task, and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Wear PPE and follow safety practices per company SOPs.
• Perform PM inspections and services on semi-trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose components using tools listed (Davie 4, DL8, PTT, Bendix, Wabco, etc.).
• Remove/replace faulty parts with hand and power tools.
• Keep work area clean and organized between repairs.
• Operate a class 8 semi-truck (up to 80,000-lb GCWR) including driving in/out of shop, hitching/unhitching, backing, test drives, and vendor transport with CDL.
• Instruct/guide subordinate technicians as requested.
• Promote safe, productive, and clean work culture.
• Communicate repairs with supervisor and drivers.
• Identify priority work with supervisor.
• Perform quarterly/semi-annual reviews of technicians.
• Assist with driver orientation and truck assignment inspections.
