Job summary

US Foods is seeking a heavy-duty diesel mechanic to service and repair our fleet at an on-site maintenance facility. The job focuses on preventive maintenance within DOT standards and performing repairs on tractors, trailers, lift gates and related equipment.

Requirements: at least 1 year of verifiable diesel shop experience, own hand tools, a high school diploma, and a valid driver's license. Pay is $24/hour, with benefits starting Day One and a strong safety culture across our locations.

BASIC PURPOSE

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
• Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
• Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
• Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
• Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have 1 year of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job‑related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
• Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
• Previous mechanical and PM program experience
• Experience using fleet maintenance software
• Welding ability

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Onsite : The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
• Ability to work flexible schedule.
• Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $22 and $24. This role may also receive overtime compensation.
