Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to ensure a safe and reliable fleet through preventative maintenance and timely repairs at a US Foods maintenance facility.

You will diagnose and repair diesel equipment, document work in fleet software, and collaborate with partners to keep operations efficient. The role requires hands-on experience, tools, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

Three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment.
Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience administering a preventive maintenance program.
Must furnish own hand tools.
Able to read and write legibly.
Basic mathematical skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, etc.).
Perform preventive maintenance within DOT standards.
Receive road calls, coordinate with third-party vendors and plan actions.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment per safety rules and regulations.
Document repairs and parts used in fleet maintenance software.
Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
Willingness to take on more responsibilities and certifications.
Other duties as assigned by manager.

Pay

Pay starts at $35.90 and rises after 90 days

The expected base rate for this role is between $35.90 and $39.90. This role may also receive overtime compensation where applicable.

Basic Purpose:

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certificates.
Other duties as assigned by manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Prior experience in administering appropriate PM program.
Must furnish own personal hand tools.
Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed);
Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Class-A CDL license and DOT certification
Experience using fleet maintenance software
Welding ability
JPRO software experience.
Knowledge with electrical schematics
Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
Leadership experience or qualifications
EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal) certification
