Hutch Paving is currently seeking a Fleet Mechanic to join our growing team!

Job Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of engines (gas and diesel), power train components (differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTOs, wheel ends), electrical systems (starters, alternators), HVAC systems, steering systems, electronics (ECMs, ECUs, sensors), engine bolt-on items (turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling systems), brake systems (including ABS), and suspension systems (spring and air).
2. Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units.
3. Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment.
4. Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
5. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
6. Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure proper operation.
7. Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists).
8. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical parts for proper operation.
9. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
10. Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, reassemble equipment.
11. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment using test instruments (handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, pressure gauges).
12. Examine and verify the safety of guards, bolts, and safety devices; verify dimensions and clearances per factory specifications.
13. Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of practical experience with tractor-trailer maintenance required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/Technical training or certification preferred.
• Specialized training in vehicle component repair and replacement.
• Proficiency in using shop tools.
• CDL license is not required but advantageous.
• Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems.
• Flexible working hours.
