Fleet Mechanic Job Summary

Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine appropriate actions for damaged parts and systems. Repair malfunctioning components, retrofit engines, change brakes, adjust steering systems, replace worn-out parts, and change hydraulic fluids.

Responsibilities

• Input daily repair reports into our software-based tracking system.
• Complete pre-trip inspections to prioritize work accordingly.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
• Diagnose, service, and repair systems on heavy equipment, including mechanical and electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, and pneumatic systems.
• Participate in safety reviews related to fleet operations and mechanics.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis.
• Conduct routine brake inspections and adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements.
• Create detailed work orders for repairs and services.
• Communicate effectively with drivers and managers to ensure compliance with maintenance policies.
• Order parts from approved vendors and drive company vehicles to pick up parts when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing preventive maintenance services.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (training available).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks (a plus).
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings as required by DOT.
