Description

Job Summary:

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for assessing work, performing preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed. They inspect completed work to ensure quality maintenance standards are met and ensure proper use and care of physical assets to prevent or minimize equipment failures.

Primary Job Duties
  1. Adhere to the company’s Vision and Core Values.
  2. Comply with the company’s handbook and policies.
  3. Diagnose, maintain, and repair trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
  4. Complete and communicate the status of work orders, including parts used, labor, and changes.
  5. Perform work specified on maintenance and repair efficiently.
  6. Perform light mechanical work on equipment, trucks, and fleet vehicles (e.g., alternators, belts, starters, bearings, wheel seals, water pumps, exhaust).
  7. Change oil on trucks and cars.
  8. Grease trucks and trailers.
  9. Perform brake work on trucks and trailers.
  10. Perform A/C repairs on trucks and cars.
  11. Perform maintenance welding.
  12. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on trucks and trailers.
  13. Review driver inspection forms and document repairs.
  14. Perform vehicle inspections as required under Section 396.13 of FMCSR and complete repairs.
  15. Ensure all service equipment is in good working condition and used properly.
  16. Follow safety and security procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  17. Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications/Preferences
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from a diesel tech program preferred.
  • One year of manufacturing or vocational experience preferred.
  • Five years of heavy truck maintenance experience preferred.
  • Familiar with FMCSR requirements for trucks and heavy equipment.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Current Driver’s License required.
  • CDL – Class A required.
  • Current Medical Card required.
  • Related certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English; ability to read work orders.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Provide own tools or use company-provided tools at employee cost.
Work Environment

Employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, confined spaces, and possibly wet/humid conditions. Occasional exposure to high places, chemicals, weather extremes, electrical shocks, and noise. The environment is usually moderate in noise level.
