Job summary

Jefferson County’s Fleet Division seeks a Fleet Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a diverse vehicle fleet. You will prioritize service tasks, perform electrical and drivetrain repairs, and ensure safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency across the lifecycle of gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and accurate recordkeeping, with an on-site schedule in Golden and a four-day work week. Competitive benefits apply.

• One year of work-related experience required.
• CDL may be required within one year of employment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

They coordinate and prioritize service and repair activities, with a strong focus on efficiency, preventive maintenance, safety, and operational readiness. They diagnose electrical, suspension, HVAC, drivetrain, and other automotive system issues accurately and perform engine and transmission repairs as required. They maintain detailed service records, compliance documentation, and asset tracking using fleet management software. They collaborate with technicians, vendors, and internal departments to support operational needs, maximize fleet availability, and ensure all vehicles remain reliable and cost-effective throughout their service life.SCHEDULE:This position operates on our four-day work week (Monday-Thursday; 6:00 am – 4:30 pm). For more information, for our Total Rewards summary.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for:Maintaining and repairing vehicles, which may include:Perform major engine adjustments and rebuildsRebuild or replace vehicle partsPerform mechanical repairs on drive train, brake, steering and other functional partsReplace vehicle operating systemsTune enginesPerform welding or machine workWorking with customers to ensuring repairsMaintaining records of vehicle service and repair work by:Inspecting mechanical equipment and partsKeeping inventory of partsMaintaining replacement parts and order new onesMonitor when preventive maintenance is necessaryQUALIFICATIONS:Research shows that women and other underrepresented and historically marginalized groups tend to only when they check every box in the posting.
