City of St. George is seeking a Fleet Master Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel, gasoline, and heavy equipment. You will work on emergency vehicles, transit buses, trucks, and cars with state-of-the-art tools and diagnostics.
Eligible candidates have extensive automotive experience, strong electrical and CAN/multiplexing knowledge, and ASE certifications. The role includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive retirement plan.
Position: Fleet Master Technician Salary: $61,854 - $77,317/year
Individuals hired in this position have the opportunity to progress up to $92,780/year, which is the maximum salary for this position as of December 2025.

The Fleet Department currently employs 17 accomplished technicians and support staff to keep St. George running! Employees of the Fleet department receive paid training and education courses through Pierce Equipment, Cummins, Ford, GMC and many more industry leaders! The department provides paid testing through ASE to become ASE certified. Our facility has state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, equipment and software. We have a great work environment and excel at keeping a clean shop to work in! Fleet specific benefits include: paid uniforms and boot allowance, $1,800/yearly tool allowance, "new-hire Master Tech incentive" bonus of $5,000 ($2500 after 6 month probation requirements are met and $2,500 after the first year).
The technician work schedule is 4-days a week with 10-hour days from 6am-5pm. Under the direction of the Fleet Supervisor, diagnose, maintains and repairs diesel, gasoline, and various other types of vehicles. This is skilled mechanical work for the City of St. George with an emphasis on Medium/Heavy Duty vehicles and equipment.

This role is based in an auto repair setting, loud machinery noise, fumes, and occasional high stress. It requires moderately heavy physical labor- frequently lifting 10-25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds- along with frequent bending, stretching, twisting, and holding uncomfortable postures for long periods. You will need precise hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to handle small parts, operate machinery controls, and use hand tools, as well as sharp senses to distinguish fine variations in pitch, volume, and color.
Note:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) yearsfull-time experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair. Must have thorough knowledge and practical experience wiring complete electrical systems and diagnosing complex CAN/multiplexing networks on modern passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks. Relevant post-secondary education or a vocational degree in Automotive/Diesel technology may substitute for up to two years of required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge and expertise in performing highly specialized maintenance along with the ability to safely operate all City equipment, i.e., emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, etc.
