Primary Purpose of Position:
The Program Coordinator II/Fleet Manager position of the SBI Logistics Section includes oversight of all aspects of the SBI’s fleet of vehicles, to include assigned law enforcement vehicles, assigned permanent tag vehicles, and shared or pool permanent tag vehicles. The SBI owns approximately 500 vehicles including cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, specialty vehicles, response vehicles, watercraft, side-by-sides, golf carts, construction equipment, tractors, lawn mowers, and trailers. Many of the vehicles are outfitted with lights, communication equipment, weapon storage, and other specialized equipment. This position plays a lead role in keeping the fleet and equipment in good condition and working order. Services are provided for employees of the SBI located across the state and headquartered at the main campus on Garner Road in Raleigh, NC. This fleet manager position oversees vehicles which are owned by the SBI and divisions of the SBI. This position is responsible for working directly with Logistics management and executive staff in the selection and ordering of vehicles and specialized equipment for the fleet; coordinating installation of equipment into all vehicles; maintaining the SBI Vehicle Tracking System to track vehicle inventory, assignment, repairs, registrations/titles/tags and insurance information; preparing vehicles for surplus ensuring equipment removal and determining working status of equipment for inventory or surplus; verifying that quotes and estimates are submitted for approval in the SBI’s purchasing program; and verifying invoices, payments, receiving, inventory, and distribution of all equipment ordered. This position will coordinate, communicate, and facilitate the spare vehicle inventory, safety inspections, safety recalls, proper insurance reporting, transponders for toll roads, and other repairs. This position will provide guidance and directions to employees regarding motor vehicle accidents, tire replacements, and other motor vehicle repairs. This position operates within SBI policy and procedure, as well as the NC Department of Administration’s Motor Fleet Management Manual.
