G|M Business Interiors in Southern California is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance and operations, from safety programs to lifecycle management of box trucks, passenger vehicles, and forklifts, while fostering a culture of accountability and service.

You will lead budgeting, procurement, vendor management, and compliance with CHP BIT, DMV, DOT, FMCSA, and Cal/OSHA. Drive KPI dashboards, analyze downtime, and implement cost-effective improvements for the fleet.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years fleet management experience with commercial vehicles and forklifts.
  • Knowledge of federal and California transportation, maintenance and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and lift up to 50 lbs.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Fleet Manager will oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance while establishing and maintaining a department culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with team members, best in-class service to customers, and safe and reliable fleet operations. Responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, maintenance, compliance, safety, budgeting, procurement, lifecycle management and operational readiness of all company fleet assets including box trucks, pickups, passenger vehicles, trailers and forklifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
General Responsibilities
  • Drive safety initiatives and standards that cultivate accountability and prevent incidents.
  • Perform and administer fleet policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage preventive maintenance and repair programs.
  • Oversee CHP BIT, DMV, DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance.
  • Manage vehicle registrations, insurance, permits and licensing.
  • Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage telematics, GPS and fuel utilization programs.
  • Develop fleet replacement strategies and capital plans.
  • Direct vendor sourcing, budgeting, and contract administration.
  • Administer vehicle assignment and utilization programs.
  • Manage fleet performance metrics such as vehicle uptime, fleet cost per mile, vehicle utilizations, fuel efficiency, accident frequency, audit results, budget performance, and compliance to maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain fleet KPI dashboards and reporting, including weekly status of Fleet Performance.
California Compliance Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and maintain compliance with CHP BIT requirements where applicable.
  • Maintain 90-day inspection schedules and records for covered vehicles, if applicable.
  • Administer DMV Employer Pull Notice monitoring.
  • Support driver qualification, licensing and MVR review processes.
  • Monitor CARB emissions and Environmental Requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready records and support agency inspections.
Federal Compliance Responsibilities
  • Support FMCSA compliance programs.
  • Maintain vehicle inspection, repair and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain Driver Qualification Files.
  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting fleet operations.
Fleet Maintenance Program
  • Create Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules by mileage, hours or calendar intervals.
  • Track repairs, warranty work, recalls and campaigns.
  • Review repair estimates and obtain approval for work.
  • Analyze downtime and maintenance trends.
  • Remove unsafe vehicles from service immediately.
  • Manage inspection, maintenance and replacement of forklifts.
  • Conduct forklift training and maintain operator authorization records.
  • Ensure training and evaluations are current.
  • Administer battery charging and fueling safety practices.
Leadership and Management
  • Establish goals and annual objectives related to areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise fleet staff and vendors.
  • Develop training plans in conjunction with GMBI Safety Officer.
  • Partner with HR, Safety, Finance and Operations.
  • Complete trending analysis of all related performance metrics.
Budget Authority
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor actual spending against budgets.
  • Analyze total cost of ownership.
  • Recommend acquisitions and disposals.
  • Approve expenditures within delegated authority.
Procurement and Vendor Management
  • Develop RFPs and bid processes.
  • Negotiate service agreements.
  • Audit invoices and service quality.
  • Manage vehicle lease and rental programs.
Accident and Safety Management
  • Lead investigations and root cause corrective analysis (RCCA).
  • Develop, implement and manage corrective action programs.
  • Analyze incident trends and safety metrics.
  • Coordinate driver coaching and defensive driving initiatives.
  • Chair accident review meetings when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid California Driver License with clean driving record.
  • 5+ years fleet management experience with commercial vehicles and forklifts, including compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Knowledgeable regarding transportation, maintenance and safety regulations (federal and California).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point.
  • Effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations and respond promptly to urgent issues.
  • Ability to inspect vehicles and access warehouses and yards.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Operations or a related field. Equivalent experience and professional certifications may be substituted for a formal education.
  • 10 years of Fleet Management experience.
  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Equipment Manager (CEM), OSHA 30 or related certifications.
  • Experience with telematics and fleet software.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Annual salary ranges from $73,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Paid time off, health insurance benefits, a 401(k) plan and an employee stock ownership plan are available for eligible team members.
