PureGreen in Longs, SC is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, organization, and accountability of the company fleet assets including vehicles, trailers, and shop equipment.

The role emphasizes safety and preventative maintenance to keep equipment reliable for daily operations. You will work closely with Operations, Branch Managers, Account Managers, and vendors to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of fleet, equipment, or maintenance management experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a complete inventory of company trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and shop assets.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules; coordinate repairs with internal mechanics and external vendors.
  • Oversee vehicle registrations, license plates, insurance, DOT compliance, and annual inspections.
  • Implement a company-wide tool accountability program; track tools and parts; investigate lost or damaged equipment.
  • Build relationships with equipment dealers and repair vendors; obtain competitive pricing; coordinate warranty claims.

Fleet Manager

Longs, SC | Full-Time | Reports to Branch Manager

PureGreen is looking for an experienced and highly organized Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, organization, and accountability of our company fleet and equipment. This position plays a critical role in keeping our teams operational by ensuring vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, landscape equipment, tools, and shop facilities are safe, properly maintained, and ready for use.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, organization, and accountability of all PureGreen Land Group fleet assets. This includes company vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, landscape equipment, tools, and shop facilities.

The Fleet Manager ensures that all assets are safe, operational, properly maintained, and available to support daily operations while maximizing equipment lifespan and minimizing downtime.

This position works closely with Operations, Branch Managers, Account Managers, Crew Leaders, and vendors to maintain a high-performing fleet that reflects PureGreen’s commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Fleet Asset Management
  • Maintain a complete inventory of company trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, mowers, small equipment, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Assign and track assets by location and crew
  • Maintain accurate asset records including serial numbers, VINs, engine hours, maintenance history, warranties, and registrations
  • Conduct scheduled fleet audits to verify asset condition and accountability
Preventative Maintenance & Repairs
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and vehicles
  • Ensure maintenance is completed according to manufacturer recommendations
  • Schedule routine services including oil changes, hydraulic service, filter replacements, tires, brakes, DOT inspections, blade sharpening, greasing, and battery replacement
  • Monitor engine hours and mileage for upcoming service requirements
  • Coordinate repairs with internal mechanics and outside vendors
  • Prioritize repairs based on operational needs
  • Diagnose recurring equipment issues and implement long-term solutions
  • Track repair costs and identify high-cost assets
  • Reduce fleet downtime through proactive planning
  • Ensure crews have functioning replacement equipment when necessary
Vehicle & Trailer Management
  • Oversee inspections of all company vehicles and trailers
  • Manage vehicle registrations, license plates, insurance documentation, DOT compliance, and annual inspections
  • Ensure vehicles remain clean, organized, and professional in appearance
  • Coordinate vehicle replacements and disposals
Tool & Equipment Accountability
  • Implement and maintain a company-wide tool accountability program
  • Issue and track tools assigned to employees
  • Investigate lost or damaged equipment
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts
  • Recommend replacement of worn or obsolete equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Organize storage areas for parts, filters, oils, hydraulic fluids, fuel containers, hardware, and safety equipment
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of frequently used repair parts and consumables
  • Establish shop organization standards and enforce cleanliness
  • Build relationships with equipment dealers and repair vendors
  • Obtain competitive pricing for repairs and replacement equipment
  • Coordinate warranty claims
  • Negotiate service agreements when appropriate
  • Manage outside repair schedules and monitor quality of work
Budget & Cost Management
  • Assist in developing the annual fleet budget
  • Monitor fleet operating costs
  • Track fuel, repair, maintenance, and equipment replacement expenses
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses
  • Recommend equipment replacement based on life-cycle cost analysis
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure fleet operations comply with all company safety policies
  • Monitor OSHA and DOT compliance requirements
  • Perform regular safety inspections
  • Maintain equipment maintenance documentation
  • Ensure safety decals, lights, backup alarms, fire extinguishers, and other required safety equipment remain operational
Training & Crew Support
  • Train Crew Leaders on daily inspections, equipment care, proper loading and unloading, and preventative maintenance responsibilities
  • Establish clear equipment reporting procedures
  • Develop standardized inspection checklists
  • Promote accountability and ownership of company assets
Leadership & Communication
  • Foster a culture of accountability and pride in company equipment
  • Communicate effectively with Operations and Branch Managers regarding fleet readiness
  • Establish measurable fleet performance standards
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency
  • Lead by example through professionalism, organization, and responsiveness
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • 5+ years of fleet, equipment, or maintenance management experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of vehicles, trailers, and equipment
  • Knowledge of CAT, Kubota, Exmark, Magnum, and landscape equipment preferred
  • Experience with preventative maintenance software or fleet management systems
  • Strong organizational, communication, planning, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Understanding of fleet costs, maintenance planning, and vendor management
  • Strong commitment to safety, accountability, and preventative maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CDL preferred but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to regularly work around vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and landscape equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb, and perform hands-on equipment inspections
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, tools, parts, and supplies as required

Competitive salaried position based on experience : $60,000 - $75,000 annually
