Job summary

The City of Abilene is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine mechanical tasks on City vehicles and equipment, including tire and fluid service. You will maintain lubrication records and assist with inventory and fuel checkout.

Responsibilities include responding to field calls for tire service and fueling, operating vehicles with a Class C license, and keeping the work area clean and safe. Prior mechanical experience preferred; training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• General mechanical experience with hand and power tools required.
• Experience in fast-paced industrial environments preferred.
• Ability to read and write at a basic level.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance such as tire repair and replacement and lube/oil/filter services.
• Maintain lubrication records and inventory; handle fuel and oil checkout.
• Respond to field calls for tire service, fueling, and fluid service using mobile units.
• Operate a City vehicle with Class C license; assist in yard operations.
• Maintain work area cleanliness and safety.
