Job summary

Abilene Zoological Gardens seeks a maintenance technician to perform routine mechanical tasks on a range of city vehicles and equipment, including tires, lubrication, and fuel services. Under general supervision, you will keep equipment in good working order and assist with inventory.

Candidates should have general mechanical experience, read/write ability, and a valid Texas driver’s license; a Class C UST Operator Certificate and safety trainings are required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• General mechanical experience with hand and power tools.
• Experience in a fast-paced industrial environment preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Class C UST Facility Operator Certificate or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Bloodborne Pathogens and HazCom training within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tire and wheel maintenance.
• Lube/oil/filter services on mobile equipment.
• Inspect and service small engines and pumps.
• Maintain lubrication and inventory records.
• Operate fueling and oil checkout; respond to field calls.
