Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of tasks on fleet vehicles and equipment in accordance with company policy, federal, state, and local regulations, repair manuals, factory specifications, and schematics.
- Maintain the fleet equipment and equipment knowledge base.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- One of the following positions is available: Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A, B, or C.
- Position offered is contingent upon the qualifications and work experience of the candidate.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 20 years old.
- Have a valid driver’s license and authorization to drive a company vehicle on or before the start date.
- Be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.
- Be able to lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
- Be able to read, write, and solve basic math problems.
- Successfully complete the following tests before the start date: Basic Office Skills, Following Written Instructions, Spatial Reasoning, Mechanical Reasoning.
- Interpret, understand, and follow instructions accurately.
- Generate and process work on a computerized maintenance management system.
- Obtain an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
- Work independently with little or no supervision.
- Maintain and supply hand tools required for daily duties.
- Collaborate well with others and be a team member.
- Show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.
- Show commitment to Publix’s mission.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current McCalla Distribution associate.
- Read and interpret technical manuals.
- Have at least two years of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of ARC, MIG, and GAS welding and cutting.
- Basic knowledge of welding techniques (aluminum and steel).
- Mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of fleet equipment, circuits, and operational sequences.
- One year of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus equals 15 hours of pay; in the second year it equals one week’s pay if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check. Subsequent years receive a bonus equal to two weeks’ pay.
