Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Fleet Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining our fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal condition for the safe transportation of our products. This role involves inspecting and maintaining VoidForm’s vehicles and assets to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with D.O.T. regulations, and readiness for delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on company vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and other assets.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to extend fleet lifespan and report findings to the Fleet Manager.
- Assist with scheduled vehicle maintenance tasks under the guidance of the Fleet Manager.
- Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with D.O.T. standards (training provided if needed).
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, inputting data into tracking software.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform on-site repairs based on experience and qualifications.
- Manage inventory of shop supplies and recommend purchases to the Fleet Manager.
- Uphold safety protocols and ensure vehicles are safe for operation.
- Occasional travel to VoidForm locations may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on skills and business needs.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with fleet or commercial vehicles.
- Technical education or college coursework.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and parts ordering.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and safety commitment.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of the three C’s (Complaint, Cause, Correction).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Deadline-oriented and stress-tolerant.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Prolonged walking in warehouse environments.
- Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to loud noises from engines and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Climbing stairs and using ladders up to 15 feet.
