What we need

The Field Service Maintenance Technician will repair and calibrate our automated and robotic systems. This role requires 100% travel across Symbotic sites in the US and Canada, primarily working with the robotic fleet of vehicles. Responsibilities include complex troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades of the fleet.

What we do

The Field Service Maintenance Team is part of the Deployment, Implementation, and Operations Organization, responsible for system setup at client sites. This team manages the deployment from inception to full operation of robotic material handling systems.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure safety compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and client procedures.
  • Perform inspections and upgrades on Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems and Symbot Autonomous vehicle fleet.
  • Support continuous operation through adjustments, calibrations, repairs, and component replacements.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of equipment, programs, and tools related to the fleet.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment.
  • Inspect and evaluate robotic fleet vehicles for quality and damage.
  • Document all maintenance actions thoroughly in the CMMS.
  • Communicate effectively about issues and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel and Control Center Operators during system commissioning.
  • Adapt to dynamic environments and shifting priorities.
  • Ensure proper cleanup and adherence to 5S policies after repairs.
  • Handle robotic vehicle recovery in the Symbotic Matrix system, including working in restrictive environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

What you’ll need

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with mechanical automation systems.
  • Ability to train and share expertise with team members.
  • Proficiency in inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs, including electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely support sites.
  • Leadership skills to delegate tasks and oversee team functions.
  • Multitasking ability and strong communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel 100% and own a credit card for expense management.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-based position with up to 80% travel.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive or fly to various locations.
  • Work involves physical activity, including climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working at heights up to 45 feet.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, including PPE and fall protection, is mandatory.
  • Environmental working conditions vary, with exposure to weather and temperature ranges from 105° to 32°F.
