Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience; education/experience equivalent accepted.
• Experience supervising mechanics and shop operations.
• Heavy-duty vehicle repair experience.
• Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with AssetWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shop operations for maintenance, inspections, and repairs of university vehicles.
• Ensure technicians have proper tools; manage depreciation and replacements.
• Maintain inspections and certifications for all equipment.
• Manage inventory and disposal of lubricants and supplies.
• Run diagnostic software updates and licenses for vendors.
• Ensure safety kits and insurance forms are available in vehicles.
• Maintain inventory of gloves, spill kits, and cleaning materials.
• Review monthly budget reports with Transportation Accountant and Fleet Manager.
• Handle PO process; coordinate with Office Manager and Fleet Coordinator.
• Review third-party invoices for accuracy before payment.
• Train employees on safe practices and BE bus maintenance.
• Ensure techs are trained to handle spills and hazardous materials.
• Research new techniques, methods, and equipment; stay aware of vendors.
• Stay informed about third-party repair shops in the Denver metro area.
• Stay apprised of changes in standard processes and vendors.
• Lead on-road breakdown response; coordinate tow calls.
• Conduct periodic safety training for staff.
• Quality control for work by third-party shops; negotiate as needed.
• Weekly meetings with Transit Manager on bus needs.
• Diagnose with proprietary software; identify causes of EV issues.
• Repair mechanical issues to manufacturer specs; EV battery work.
• Follow safety procedures for EVs; support difficult repairs.
• Pursue ongoing training and professional development.
• This in-person position has an expected schedule Mon–Fri; on-call nights and weekends.
