Job summary

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 in Colorado is seeking a Transportation/Fleet Manager to oversee the district's transportation fleet and maintenance operations, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient service for student transportation. The role requires coordinating maintenance, managing staff, and complying with DOT/CDE and district standards.

You will drive budget planning for parts and equipment, supervise shop mechanics, and liaise with the dispatch office to optimize asset use.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Three years minimum supervisory experience in the transportation field is highly desired.
• Three or more years of experience in the transportation field including driving, training, vehicle maintenance, and supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the fleet maintenance section of the Transportation Department.
• Oversee the daily maintenance and repair of the district's student transportation assets to insure the provision of safe, reliable and efficient transportation services.
• Oversee the daily maintenance of the district's support vehicles and associated equipment.
• Ensure that all student transportation vehicles are in compliance with DOT and CDE standards and district regulations.
• Ensure maintenance is performed and documented using maintenance systems and software.
• Supervise, assign duties and evaluate all fleet maintenance personnel; schedule shifts and on-call mechanics.
• Coordinate dispatch to optimize asset use and address safety concerns.
• Maintain required reports and prepare evaluations of fleet maintenance effectiveness.
• Provide training for equipment operators and mechanics; ensure cross-training.
• Manage stock and purchases for diesel/gasoline; ensure HAZMAT compliance.
• Serve as CO Opacity Compliance Coordinator and promote clean air initiatives.
• Prepare annual budget projections for parts and equipment; manage purchase orders.
• Assist in vehicle specification for district fleet purchases; advise on fleet composition.
• Required to drive school bus routes and trips as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
