Job summary

Capital Waste Services is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment. This role ensures safe, reliable operation of our collection fleet through routine service, troubleshooting, and timely repairs.

The ideal candidate should be mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and able to maintain high workmanship standards while supporting operational needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance, fleet, diesel, hydraulic, automotive, or heavy equipment repair experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks, equipment, and fleet assets.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Troubleshoot engine, suspension, steering, brake, and drivetrain issues.
• Repair or replace defective components and parts; assist welding/fabrication as needed.
• Follow safety policies and comply with OSHA/DOT/FMCSA/environmental regulations.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
• Communicate repair needs and equipment conditions to supervisors.
• Collaborate with fleet maintenance staff and operations personnel.
