Job summary

MV Transportation is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead day-to-day maintenance for a fixed-route transit fleet. You will oversee technicians, utility workers and supervisors, set performance expectations, and drive safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

This role emphasizes staff development, ASE certification, and continuous improvement, with a focus on keeping buses, including diesel, hybrid and EV fleets, on track and within budget.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing maintenance of a transit bus fleet
• Experience directing 10+ employees (technicians, cleaners)
• Experience with 30+ buses in the last year
• Track and control parts inventories, vendors and suppliers
• Prioritize and manage schedules, projects and assignments
• Manage financial/accounting aspects of fleet maintenance
• Communicate effectively at all levels
• Technical competence in light/medium/heavy-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
• ASE certifications are a plus or to be obtained within 6 months
• Knowledge of audits and PM schedules
• Experience with diesel, hybrid and EV buses
• Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements or to be obtained within 6 months
• DVIs and work orders experience

Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Fleet Maintenance Manager for proposed business operations. This individual will serve as a dynamic, versatile leader responsible for overseeing all day-to-day maintenance functions for a fixed-route transit fleet. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction to maintenance personnel, including technicians, utility workers, and supervisors, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include developing and mentoring staff, setting clear performance expectations, promoting ongoing technical training and ASE certification, and driving a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead efforts to maximize fleet reliability, improve maintenance performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the delivery of safe and dependable transportation services.

Qualifications

Talent Requirements:

• Must have at least three (3) or more years of recent (within the last five (5) years) and relevant experience managing the maintenance functions of a transit bus maintenance shop similar in scope, size, and complexity, and with the same or similar type of transit vehicles/equipment.
• Must have experience managing/directing 10+ employees (fleet Technicians/Cleaners).
• Experience working with 30 + buses within the last year.
• Must be able to track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers.
• Must be able to properly prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments.
• Must be able to manage the financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in writing and verbally.
• Must have computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook.
• Must have technical competence in light/medium/heavy-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
• Must display initiative, professionalism, candor, and tact at all times.
• ASE certifications are a plus, or must be obtained within 6 months of being hired
• Technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
• Solid knowledge of managing audits and PM schedules.
• Attention to housekeeping and worksite organization.
• Experience with Diesel, hybrid, and EV buses.
• Must have a Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements. Or must be obtained within 6 months of being hired
• Experience with digitized vehicle inspections (DVIs) and work orders is a plus.
• All other duties as assigned

Starting salary range: $104,000 - $123,000
