Job summary

City of Muskogee seeks a Vehicle & Equipment Management Leader II to direct daily maintenance, repair and overhaul of the City’s diverse fleet, including police vehicles, heavy trucks and grounds equipment. This working foreman will supervise a multi-skilled technician team and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role requires supervisory experience, expert vehicle maintenance skills, and the ability to manage parts inventory, safety programs and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus five years of gasoline, diesel and hydraulic mechanics experience, including two years at journeyman level and two years supervisory experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience can be accepted

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance of city fleet and review work of garage crews and contractors
• Assign work orders to technicians and monitor progress to meet deadlines
• Maintain contact with city departments regarding vehicle maintenance
• Perform road tests to ensure quality and customer satisfaction
• Instruct staff on safety equipment usage and proper operation of vehicles and equipment
• Maintain service records and manage parts inventory
• Recruit and train staff and provide coaching/upskilling
• Operate office equipment and manage administrative tasks
• Report to work regularly and on time
